CATHOLIC MESSAGES USA.com - "Traditional Catholic Values - Serving People of all Faiths"

PATRIOTIC & SOCIAL ORGANIZATIONS & RESOURCES

MEMO: There are many individuals & organizations that claim to be "patriotic," but their "love" for our country is clouded by their lack of religious beliefs that our Founding Fathers possessed.

Many politicians even claim to be "Christian," but since they do not truly practice their Faith, once they occupy a political office they continue to be more concerned with serving themselves and achieving their own selfish goals than they are with serving God & our country in an honest & humble manner

The organizations shown below appear to be made up of individuals who truly care about social and moral values and truly love our country.  I hope you will also honor their ideals and help them through your prayers and through your participation in the work they are attempting to do for the good of society, and for the good of our nation.  Thank you & God bless you.

"It is our solemn duty as Catholics, therefore, to be conscious of our duty to America, and to preserve its freedom by preserving its faith in God. . .But as we talk about patriotism, it might be well to remind ourselves that in a crisis like this even devotion to the stars and stripes is not enough to save us. We must look beyond them to other stars and stripes, namely the stars and stripes of Christ, by Whose stars we are illuminated and by whose stripes we are healed!"

WHAT TO REPORT:

Anyone you don't know who asks you for personal information, photos or videos.
Unsolicited obscene material from people or companies you don't know.
Misleading URLs on the Internet that point you to sites containing harmful materials rather than what you were looking for.
Anyone who wants to send you photos or videos containing obscene content of individuals 18 and younger. (The possession, manufacturing, or distributing of child pornography is illegal.)
Online enticement for offline sexual activities. (No one should be making sexual invitations to you online – and it’s an especially serious crime for adults to do it
)."

Dawn Stefanowicz - "Our Vision is to serve as a resource, offering assistance to individuals who have grown up with a homosexual, bisexual or transsexual parent(s) by providing a supportive safe network to express their personal stories.  To invite dialogue with those who are concerned with the best interests of children and the kinds of impact and influences homosexual, bisexual, and transsexual parenting have on children, families, and society."

MADD - Mothers Against Drunk Driving - "To aid the victims of crimes performed by individuals driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, to aid the families of such victims and to increase public awareness of the problem of drinking and drugged driving.  In 1984, MADD changed its name from Mothers Against Drunk Drivers to Mothers Against Drunk Driving. This carefully considered change was made because MADD is opposed to the criminal act of drunk driving, not individuals."

Commentary: "Criminal act" is a rather severe and inaccurate description.  They are not pre-meditated acts done by someone who is always aware he or she is committing a "crime." Excessive drinking and dependence on the use of drugs can become addictive due to being emotionally immature, or due to physical or mental abuse

Many of these individuals are naive young people who are simply out for a good time.  Others are depressed or feel unloved by their spouse or parents.  Still others are unable to see a purpose to their lives.  There are all kinds of reasons why people resort to excessive drinking and taking drugs.

To add to their problems by a long prison sentence is not justice.  It is cruel, vengeful, solves nothing, and does not address their immaturity or emotional problems.  It is a terrible tragedy should an individual kill, or severly injure someone while driving under these types of physical & mental influences, but is not living with the memory of what they have done for the rest of their lives punishment enough?

Compassion, mercy, and forgiveness are virtues - vengeance is not.  Far better remedies would be probation, counseling, community work, a suspension of their driver's license, and the family of the victim accepting their sincere expression of sorrow and willingness to reform their lives.

NARTH - National Association for Research & Therapy of Homosexuality - "Is homosexuality immutable?  Is it fixed, or is it amenable to change?  The 1973 decision to delete homosexuality from the diagnostic manual of the American Psychiatric Association had a chilling effect on research.  The APA decision was not made based on new scientific evidence ..."

Quit Alcohol.com - "An initiative with the Alcohol Abuse Counsel and a trained group of volunteers.  Alcoholism is a widely spread disease and we feel that it is our public duty to educate folks around the world about the problem.  Join us today and let’s take a stand. Let’s help Alcoholics recover once and for all."
