CATHOLIC MESSAGES - "Traditional Catholic Values - Serving People of all Faiths"
By Vincent T. Bemowski - Website Editor
"And it came to pass, as he was alone praying, his disciples also were with him, and he asked them, saying: WHOM DO THE PEOPLE SAY THAT I AM?   They answered and said: John the Baptist, but some say Elias, and others say that one of the former prophets is risen again.  And he said to them: But whom do you say that I am?  Simon Peter answering, said: THE CHRIST OF GOD"  (Luke 9:18-20).
His birth, life, sufferings, Resurrection, Second Coming.  Plus Scripture for those going through difficult trials and sufferings.
Please note:  As you read these verses from the Sacred Scriptures, the impact upon your soul, emotions, and memory will be greater if you also listen to some soft spiritual music.
As published on the New Advent website:
"About this time lived Jesus, a man full of wisdom, if indeed one may call Him a man.  For He was the doer of incredible things, and the teacher of such as gladly received the truth.  He thus attracted to Himself many Jews and many of the Gentiles.  He was the Christ.  On the accusation of the leading men of our people, Pilate condemned Him to death upon the cross; nevertheless those who had previously loved Him still remained faithful to Him.  For on the third day He again appeared to them living, just as, in addition to a thousand other marvelous things, prophets sent by God had foretold.  And to the present day the race of those who call themselves Christians after Him has not ceased."
The above was written by FLAVIUS JOSEPHUS who was a: "Jewish historian, born A.D. 37, at Jerusalem; died about the year 101.  He belonged to a distinguished priestly family, whose paternal ancestors he himself traces back five generations; his mother's family claimed descent from the Machabeans.  He received a good education, and association with distinguished scholars developed his intellectual gifts, more especially his memory and power of judgment.  He also made himself fully acquainted with and tried the leading politico-religious Jewish parties of his age -- the Essenes, Pharisees, and Sadducees."
Christianity need not be "defended," for billions of people have already endorsed it.  However, because not all Christians  set a good example, it must constantly be explained & re-explained to non-believers and to those of other Faiths who lack understanding of it and therefore may strongly oppose it's teachings.  They choose not to become Christians for a number of reasons, but among them is their distrust of Christianity because they believe many Christians fail to give the appearance of someone who truly loves God and those who do not share their beliefs.
My intention in presenting this brief study (I say "brief" because so much more can be written & quoted) is not to favor one Christian religion over another, but to speak from the beliefs most Christian religions have in common.  My goal is to touch the hearts & minds of people throughout the world - non-believers, those who express their belief in God through other forms of spirituality, and those who who believe in another form of religion.  I also hope to reinforce the beliefs of modern day Christians, & give them cause to reflect upon where they stand as an individual with Almighty God.
To obtain "salvation" requires cooperating with God from your "conversion" to the last moment of your life, and therefore also requires that we repent & confess our serious sins each time we commit them, although it is best to be aware of even the smallest of sins and not become "lukewarm" or weak in the practice our faith.
Many know that a "savior" or "redeemer" is a person who "saves" you from harm or danger (a deliverer, rescuer, or "Messiah").  However, often unbelievers & those of other Faiths ask Christians why we believe that our "Savior," and indeed the Savior of the world, is Jesus Christ.  Why we believe He is the Son of God and why we believe that although remaining Divine, He came in human form upon this earth to suffer, die, and rise from the dead.  Why we believe that through Christ's great sufferings mankind was reconciled with God the Father, "redeemed" and "saved" from the previous punishment due our sins, as set by God the Father in His Justice.
They also want to know why we believe there are Three Persons in One God, although He created each of us human beings in the form of one person.  Why those who truly follow Jesus are "rescued" from leading a gravely sinful life when they fully cooperate with the grace He obtained for us.  And why we believe grace is necessary if we desire to follow the guidance of the Spirit of Truth - the Spirit of God.
Therefore unbelievers & those of other religions want to know more about who JESUS is, and require "proof" of His existence.  Unlike past or present day false prophets who in their pride assumed they possessed "wisdom," and wrote down in books & letters their own morally twisted opinions of what they believed was the "Word of God."  And unlike others who claimed to be a "god," or were imagined to be a "god" by their misguided "followers," but no written testimonies were left of their existence other than what was preached by word of mouth or past on through fables, through the SACRED SCRIPTURES & GOSPELS, GOD THE FATHER has provided mankind with a permanent "Record" of His existence, as well as that of His SON JESUS and His Spirit - the HOLY SPIRIT.
Although I did not use all of the Books it contains, and there are a number of other translations of the Holy Bible, for this study I used the earliest known Church approved published Bible (Douay Rheims Version), containing all of the originally approved 73 Books (46 from the Old Testament, and 27 from the New Testament).  These 73 books were approved or "canonized" in the year 393 at the Council of Hippo in North Africa, but manuscripts existed from the earliest years of Christianity.  Other books also existed, but were not determined to be completely truthful or accurate accounts of the Scriptures and Gospels,
The original translations of these 73 Books into Latin required an understanding of *Aramaic, Hebrew, and Greek, and therefore was not an easy task.  These 73 books were then translated into the English language from the Latin Vulgate.  The Old Testament was first published in English in 1609 in Douay, France. The New Testament was first published in English in Rheims, France in 1582.  Because the vast majority of today's Biblical scholars lack the Gift of Wisdom and a deep knowledge of one or more of these languages, they have difficulty to accurately improve upon those original Latin translations, and difficulty correcting and/or agreeing upon the true meaning of certain words in today's commonly used versions of the Bible.
Note: Aramaic is one of the Semitic languages, known almost from the beginning of human history along with Arabic, Hebrew, Ethiopic, and Akkadian (ancient Babylonian and Assyrian).  Aramaic was originally spoken by the ancient Middle Eastern people known as Aramaeans.  It was most closely related to Hebrew, Syriac, and Phoenician.  (The Dead Sea Scrolls are for the most part written in Hebrew, but there are many written in Aramaic - they also provide proof that Christianity is rooted in Judaism).  Many scholars believe that Jesus primarily spoke Aramaic, along with some Hebrew and Greek.  Although being Divine as well as human, He of course could have spoken in any language.
The Douay-Rheims Bible was translated at a time when the more "poetic" old English language was common, and therefore requires a slower reading to fully absorb it's Messages, but I believe that style gives it more dignity - I hope you will agree.
To gain the greatest spiritual benefit, it is best that you put aside any personal criticisms or skeptical views and opinions.  I also respectfully request that you please not offer additions  to this study.  I may expand upon this study if I have available time, but there are a great many people I wish to contact, so the number of further updates are uncertain, and may not even prove to be necessary.
I especially ask that Christians pray that God will enlighten you in a simple way and give you wisdom and understanding.  My hope is that through this study you may grow in your faith, in your love for the Holy Trinity, and in your love for your brothers and sisters all over the world - no matter what religion they practice or if they currently do not believe in an "organized" religion, or do not believe God truly exists.
The following is only a partial listing of some of the "proofs" unbelievers & those of other Faiths frequently ask of Christians.  I do not have the time to participate in debates, but should you have any questions or concerns, or desire a deeper understanding of these verses from the Sacred Scriptures, please write me and I will try to answer your concerns and/or try to provide explanations.
PLEASE NOTE: I have added explanations to some of the verses.
Old Testament:
"In the BEGINNING God created HEAVEN, and EARTH...And he said: Let US (The Holy Trinity - God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit - Three Divine Persons in One God) make man to our image and likeness" (Genesis 1:26).
"And God created man to his own image, to the image of God he created him; male and female he created them" (Genesis 1:27).
"And ADAM called the name of his wife EVE, because she was the mother of all the living"
(Genesis 3:20).

Note: "Horn" in the Scriptures signifies strength & power. The horn is said to be exalted, when a person receives an increase of strength or glory (explanation per footnotes in Douay-Rheims Bible).
New Testament:
"In the BEGINNING was the Word, and the WORD (JESUS) WAS WITH GOD, and the WORD WAS GOD.  The same was in the beginning with God. ALL THINGS were made by him: and without him was made nothing that was made.  And the WORD WAS MADE FLESH, AND DWELT AMONG US, (and we saw his glory, the glory as it were of the only begotten of the Father), full of grace and truth... John saw Jesus coming to him, and he saith: Behold the LAMB OF GOD, behold him who taketh away the SIN OF THE WORLD" (John 1:1-3,14,29).
"For in him (JESUS) were all things created in HEAVEN and on EARTH, visible and invisible, whether thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers; all things were created by him and in him.  And he is before all, and by him all things consist.  And he is the HEAD OF THE BODY, THE CHURCH, who is the BEGINNING, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he may hold the primacy.  Because in him, it hath well pleased the Father, that all fullness should dwell.  And through him to reconcile all things unto himself, making peace through the BLOOD OF HIS CROSS, both as to the things that are on earth, and the things that are in heaven"  (Epistle of St. Paul to the Colossians 1:16-20).
"For although there be that are CALLED GODS, either in heaven or on earth (for there be GODS MANY and lords many).  Yet to us there is but ONE GOD, THE FATHER, of whom are all things, and we unto him; and ONE LORD JESUS CHRIST, by whom are all things, and we by him" (1st Corinthians 8:5-6).

New Testament:
"The SPIRIT OF THE LORD IS UPON ME (JESUS).  Wherefore he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor, he hath sent me to heal the contrite of heart" (Luke 4:18).

"And he had FOUR DAUGHTERS, virgins, who did PROPHESIZE"  (Acts 21:9).
"And I would have you all to speak with tongues, but rather to PROPHESIZE.  For greater is he that PROPHESIED, than he that speaketh with tongues: unless perhaps he INTERPRET, that the church may receive EDIFICATION"  (1 Corinthians 14:5).
Old Testament:
"Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign.  Behold a VIRGIN shall conceive, and bear a SON, and his name shall be called EMMANUEL"  (Isaiah 7:14).

New Testament:
"But while he thought on these things, behold the angel of the Lord appeared to him in his sleep, saying: Joseph, son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife, for that which is conceived in her, is of the HOLY GHOST. And she shall bring forth a SON, and thou shalt call his name JESUSFor he shall save his people from their sins.  Now all this was done that it might be fulfilled which the Lord spoke by the prophet (Isaias), saying: Behold a VIRGIN shall be with child, and bring forth a SON, and they shall call his name EMMANUEL, which being interpreted is, God with us" (Matthew 1:20-23).
"For God so loved the world, as to GIVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON, that whosoever believeth in him, may not perish, but may have life everlasting" (John 3:16).
Old Testament:
"And thou, BETHLEHEM Ephrata, art a little one among the thousands of JUDAH: out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be the RULER in Israel: and his going forth is from the beginning, from the days of eternity"
(Micheas/Micah 5:2).
New Testament:
"When JESUS therefore was born in BETHLEHEM of JUDAH, in the days of king Herod, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem.  Saying:  Where is he that is born KING of the Jews?  For we have seen his star in the east, and are come to adore him.  And king Herod hearing this, was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.  And assembling together all the chief priests and the scribes of the people, he inquired of them where Christ should be born. But they said to him: In BETHLEHEM OF JUDAH.  For so it is written by the prophet..." (Matthew 2:1-5).

"As the morning passeth, so hath the KING OF ISRAEL PASSED AWAY.  Because Israel (also applicable to Christ as described below by Matthew) ) was a CHILD, and I loved him: and I CALLED MY SON OUT OF EGYPT"  (Osee/Hosea 11:1).
New Testament:
"And after they were departed, behold an angel of the Lord appeared in sleep to Joseph, saying: Arise, and take the CHILD and his mother, and fly into Egypt, and be there until I shall tell thee.  For it will come to pass that Herod will seek the child to destroy him.  Who (Joseph) arose, and took the child and his mother by night, and retired into EGYPT, and he was there until the DEATH OF (KING) HEROD.  That it might be fulfilled which the Lord spoke by the prophet (Osee) saying: OUT OF EGYPT HAVE I CALLED MY SON"  (Matthew 2:13-15).
"But when HEROD WAS DEAD, behold an angel of the Lord appeared in sleep to Joseph in EGYPT.  Saying: Arise, and take the CHILD and his mother, and go into the land of ISRAEL.  For they are dead that sought the life of the child" (Matthew 2:19-20).
Old Testament:
"Be comforted, be comforted, my people, saith your God.  Speak ye to the heart of Jerusalem, and call to her, for her evil is come to an end, her iniquity is forgiven, she hath received of the hand of the Lord double for all her sins.  The voice of one crying in the desert: Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight in the wilderness the paths of our God" (Isaiah 40:1-3).
New Testament:
"The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.  As it is written in Isaiah the prophet: Behold I send my angel (John the Baptist) before thy face, who shall prepare the way before thee. A voice of one crying in the desert: Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight his paths.  John was in the desert baptizing, and preaching the baptism of penance, unto remission of sins...I (John) have baptized you with water; but he (JESUS) shall baptize you with the HOLY GHOST.  And it came to pass, in those days, JESUS came from NAZARETH of Galilee, and was baptized by John in the Jordan.  And forthwith coming up out of he water, he saw the heavens opened, and the SPIRIT as a dove descending, and remaining on him.  And there came a voice from heaven: Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased"  (Mark 1:1-4,8-11).

Old Testament:
"In me (Wisdom) is all grace of the WAY and of the TRUTH, in me is all hope of LIFE and of virtue"  (Ecclesiasticus/Sirach 24:25).
New Testament:
"JESUS saith to him: I am the WAY, and the TRUTH, and the LIFE.  No man cometh to the Father, but by me" (John 14:6).
Old Testament:
"Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Sion, shout for joy, O daughter of Jerusalem: BEHOLD THY KING will come to thee, the just and savior, he is poor, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass"  (Zechariah 9:9).
New Testament:
"And when they drew nigh to Jerusalem, and were come to Bethphage, unto mount Olivet, then JESUS sent two disciples, saying to them: Go ye into the village that is over against you, and immediately you shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her, loose them and bring them to me. And if any man shall say anything to you, say ye, that the Lord hath need of them, and forthwith he will let them go.  Now all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying: Tell ye the daughter of Sion: Behold thy king cometh to thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of her that is used to the yoke" (Matthew 21:1-5).
"Pilate therefore said to him: Art thou a KING then? JESUS answered: Thou sayest that I am a kingFor this was I born, and for this came I into the world, that I should give testimony to the truth.  Every one that is of the truth, heareth my voice"
(John 18:37).
Old Testament:
"Awake, O sword, against my SHEPHERD, against THE MAN THAT CLEAVETH TO ME, saith the Lord of hosts: strike the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered, and I will turn my hand to the little ones" (Zechariah 13:7).
New Testament:
"Then JESUS said to them: All you shall be scandalized in ME this night.  For it is written: I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be dispersed"  (Matthew 26:31).
Old Testament:
"And I was as a meek Lamb, that is carried to be a victim, and I knew not that they had devised COUNSELS AGAINST ME, saying: Let us put wood on his bread, and cut him off from the land of the living, and let his name be remembered no more"
(Jeremiah 11:19).
"My enemies have spoken EVILS AGAINST ME: when shall he die and his name perish?  And if he came in to see me, he spoke vain things; his heart gathered together iniquity to itself.  He went out and spoke to the same purpose. All my enemies whispered together against me, they devised evils to me
They determined against me an unjust word: SHALL HE THAT SLEEPETH RISE AGAIN NO MORE?  For even the man of peace (Judas) in whom I trusted, who ATE MY BREAD, hath greatly SUPPLANTED ME.  But thou, O Lord, have mercy on me, and RAISE ME UP AGAIN: and I will requite them" (Psalm 40:6-11).
"Set thou the sinner (Judas) over him, and may the devil stand at his right hand.   When he is judged, may he go out CONDEMNED, and may his prayer be turned to sin.  May his days be few, and HIS BISHOPRIC (Judas was a bishop, like the other Apostles) let ANOTHER take" (Psalm 108:6-8).
New Testament:
"And when morning was come, all the chief priests and ancients of the people took COUNSEL AGAINST JESUS, that they might put him to death"  (Matthew 27:1).
"Jesus answered: He it is to whom I shall reach bread dipped.  And when he had dipped the BREAD, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon" (John 13:26).
"And when supper was done, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, to betray him" (John 13:2).
"And the Son of man indeed goeth, (JESUS SPEAKS OF HIS DEATH) as it is written of him, but WOE to that man by whom the Son of man shall be BETRAYED.  It were better for him IF THAT MAN HAD NOT BEEN BORN" (Mark 14:21).
"While I (JESUS) was with them, I kept them in thy name (God the Father).  Those whom thou gavest me have I kept; and none of them is LOST, but the SON OF PERDITION, (JUDAS) that the SCRIPTURE MAY BE FULFILLED" (John 17:12).
"Men, brethren, the scripture must needs be fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost spoke before by the mouth of DAVID (David wrote the Psalm) concerning JUDAS, who was the leader of them that apprehended JESUS.  Who (Judas) was numbered with us, and had obtained part of THIS MINISTRY (Judas was a bishop).
And he indeed hath possessed a field of the reward of iniquity, and being hanged (Judas hung himself), burst asunder in the midst: and all his bowels gushed out.  And it became known to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem: so that the same field was called in their tongue, Haceldama, that is to say: The field of blood.  For it is written in the book of Psalms: Let their habitation become desolate, and let there be none to dwell therein.  And HIS BISHOPRIC let another take" (Acts 1:16-20).
"And they appointed two, Joseph, called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and MATTHIAS.  And praying, they said: 'Thou, Lord, who knowest the hearts of all men, show whether of these two thou hast chosen.  To take the place of this ministry and APOSTLESHIP, from which JUDAS hath by transgression FALLEN, that he might go to his own place' (Hell).  And they gave them lots, and the lot fell upon MATTHIAS, and he was numbered with (added to) the eleven APOSTLES" (Acts 1:23-26).
Old Testament:
"The Lord (God the Father) said to my Lord (Jesus): SIT THOU AT MY RIGHT HAND.  Until I make thy enemies thy footstool.  The Lord will send forth the sceptre of thy POWER out of Sion; rule thou in the midst of thy enemies.  With thee is the principality in the day of thy strength; in the brightness of the saints, from the womb before the day star I begot thee.  The LORD hath sworn, and he will not repent: THOU ART A PRIEST FOREVER ACCORDING TO THE ORDER OF MELCHISEDECH.  The LORD AT THY RIGHT HAND hath broken kings in the day of his wrath.  He shall judge among nations, he shall fill ruins, he shall crush the heads in the land of the many HE SHALL DRINK OF THE "TORRENT" (a filthy small stream, or "brook" Jesus fell into because He was bound by ropes - see below verses) IN THE WAY, therefore shall he lift up the head" (to avoid drowning) - Psalm 109:1-7.
New Testament:
"And it is yet far more evident, if according to the similitude of MELCHISEDECH there ariseth ANOTHER PRIEST.... But this with an oath, by him that said unto him: The LORD hath sworn, and he will not repent: THOU ART A PRIEST FOREVER.  By so much is JESUS made a surety of a better testament.  And the others indeed were made many priests, because by reason of death they were not suffered to continue.  But this, for that he continueth for ever, hath an EVERLASTING PRIESTHOOD.
Whereby he is able also to SAVE FOREVER THEM that come to God by him; always living to make intercession for us.  For it was fitting that we should have such a HIGH PRIEST, holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners, and made higher than the heavens.  Who needeth not daily (as the other priests did) to offer sacrifices first for his own sins, and then for the people's, for this he (Jesus) did ONCE, in offering HIMSELF.  For the law maketh men priests, who have infirmity, (have sinned) but the word of the oath, which was since the law, the Son who is perfected for evermore"  (Epistle of St. Paul to the Hebrews 7:15,21-28).
"Again the high priest asked him, and said to him: Art thou the CHRIST the Son of the blessed God?  And JESUS said to him: I AM.  And you shall see the Son of man SITTING ON THE RIGHT HAND of the POWER OF GOD, and coming with the clouds of heaven" (Mark 14:61-62).
"When Jesus had said these things, he went forth with his disciples over the BROOK CEDRON, where there was a garden, into which he entered with his disciples... Then the band and the tribune, and the servants.... took Jesus, and BOUND HIM.  And they led him away to Annas first, for he was father in law to Caiphas, who was the high priest of that year"
(John 18:1,12-13).
Note: This where Jesus "drinks of the torrent" which was filthy water.  Because He was completely & tightly bound, He had difficulty standing and therefore his enemies, with inhuman cruelty, pushed Him into the brook Cedron and He swallowed some of this dirty water which contained sewage, and to avoid drowning, had to "lift up his head."
Old Testament:
"For if he be the true SON OF GOD, he (God) will defend him, and will deliver him from the hands of his enemies.  Let us examine him by OUTRAGES AND TORTURES, that we may know his meekness and try his patience.  Let us CONDEMN him to a most SHAMEFUL DEATH, for there shall be RESPECT had unto him by his words"
(Wisdom 2:18-20).
"For I know that my Redeemer liveth, and in the last day I shall rise out of the earth.  And I shall be clothed again with my skin, and in my flesh I will see my God. Whom I myself shall see, and my eyes shall behold, and not another, this my hope is laid up in my bosom.  Why then do you say now: Let us PERSECUTE HIM, and let us find occasion of WORD AGAINST HIM?" (Job 19:25-28).
New Testament:
"For he was teaching them as one having POWER, and not as the scribes and Pharisees"
(Matthew 7:29).
"Remember my word that I said to you: The servant is not greater than his master.  If they have PERSECUTED ME, they will also PERSECUTE YOU, if they have kept my word, they will keep yours also" (John 15:20).
"But these are written, that you may believe that JESUS IS THE CHRIST, the SON OF GOD and that believing, you may have life in his name"
(John 20:31).
"And the chief priests and the WHOLE COUNCIL sought false witness against JESUS, that they might PUT HIM TO DEATH.  And they found not, (found none that were not contradicted) whereas many false witnesses had come in.  And last of all there came two FALSE WITNESSES.  And they said: This man said, I am able to destroy the temple of God, and after three days to rebuild it (Note: Jesus was talking about Himself, & not the actual Jewish Temple).  And the high priest rising up, said to him: Answerest thou nothing to the things which these witness against thee?  But Jesus held his peace"  (Matthew 26:59-63).
"And how our chief priests and princes delivered him to be CONDEMNED TO DEATH, and CRUCIFIED him" (Luke 24:20).
"From that time JESUS began to show to his disciples, that he must go to Jerusalem and SUFFER many things from the ancients and scribes and chief priests, and be PUT TO DEATH, and the third day rise again"
(Matthew 16:21).
"Looking on JESUS, the author and finisher of faith, who having joy set before him, endured the CROSS, despising the SHAME, and now sitteth on the right hand of the throne of God" (Hebrews 12:2).
Old Testament:
"My strength is dried up like a potsherd, and my tongue hath cleaved to my jaws. and thou hast brought me down into the dust of death.  For many dogs have encompassed me; the council of the malignant hath besieged me.  They have dug (nailed) my hands and feet.  They have numbered all my bones.  And they have LOOKED AND STARED UPON ME.  They parted my garments amongst them; and upon my vesture they CAST LOTS" (Psalms 21:16-19).
"And they gave me GALL for my food, and in my THIRST they gave me VINEGAR to drink"
(Psalm 68:22).
New Testament:
"And they sat and WATCHED him.  And they put over his head his cause written: THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS.  Then were crucified with him two thieves: one on the right hand, and one on the left" (Matthew 27:36-38).
"They said then one to another: Let us not cut it, but let us CAST LOTS for it, whose it shall be, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saying: They have parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture they have cast lots.  And the soldiers indeed did these things" (John 19:24).
"And they gave him wine to drink mingled with GALL.  And when he had tasted, he would not drink"  (Matthew 27:34).
"Afterwards, JESUS knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, said: 'I THIRST.'  Now there was a vessel set there full of VINEGAR.  And they, putting a sponge full of vinegar and hyssop, put it to his mouth. Jesus therefore, when he had taken the vinegar, said: 'It is consummated.'  And bowing his head, he gave up the ghost" (His Spirit)
- John 19:28-30.
Old Testament:
"Who hath believed our report?  And to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed?  And he (JESUS) shall grow up as a tender plant before him (GOD THE FATHER) and as a root out of a thirsty ground: there is no beauty in him, nor comeliness, and we have seen him, and there was no sightliness, that we should be desirous of him. Despised, and the most abject of men, a man of sorrows, and acquainted with infirmity; and his look was as it were hidden and despised, whereupon we esteemed him not.
Surely he (Jesus) hath borne our infirmities and carried our sorrows, and we have thought him as it (He) were a leper, and as one struck by God and afflicted.  But he was wounded for our iniquities, he was bruised for our SINS; the chastisement of our peace was upon him, and by his bruises we are healed.  All we like sheep have gone astray, every one hath turned aside into his own way, and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.  He was offered because it was his own will, and he opened not his mouth, he shall be led as a sheep to the slaughter, and shall be dumb as a lamb before his shearer, and he shall not open his mouth(Isaiah 53:1-7).
New Testament:
"For I delivered unto you first of all, which I also received: how that CHRIST DIED FOR OUR SINS, according to the scriptures"
(1 Corinthians 15:3).
"But now once at the end of ages, he hath appeared for the DESTRUCTION OF SIN, by the sacrifice of himself" (Hebrews 9:26).
"Because Christ also DIED ONCE FOR OUR SINS, the just for the unjust, that he might offer us to God, being put to death indeed in the flesh, but enlivened in the spirit" (1 Peter 3:18).
"And after they have scourged him, they will put him to death, and the third day he shall RISE AGAIN"  (Luke 18:33).
"But after I shall be RISEN AGAIN, I will go before you into Galilee"  (Matthew 26:32).
"Who (an angel) saith to them: Be not frighted; you seek JESUS OF NAZARETH, who was crucified, he is RISEN, he is not here, behold the place (tomb) where they laid him" (Mark 16:6).
"When therefore he was RISEN AGAIN FROM THE DEAD, his disciples remembered that he had said this, and they believed the scripture, and the word that JESUS had said" (John 2:22).
"And if Christ be not RISEN AGAIN, your faith is vain, for you are yet in your sins"
(1 Corinthians 15:17).
"And he (JESUS) said to him: If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they believe if one RISE AGAIN FROM THE DEAD" (Luke 16:31).
"This JESUS hath GOD RAISED AGAIN, whereof all we are WITNESSES" (Acts 2:32).
"Not to all the people, but to WITNESSES PREORDAINED BY GOD, even to us, who did eat and drink with him AFTER HE AROSE FROM THE DEAD" (Acts 10:41).
"Who WAS SEEN FOR MANY DAYS, by them who came up with him (JESUS) from Galilee to Jerusalem, who to this present are his WITNESSES to the people"
(Acts 13:31).
"For I delivered unto you first of all, which I also received, HOW THAT CHRIST DIED FOR OUR SINS, according to the scriptures.  And that HE WAS BURIED, AND THAT HE ROSE AGAIN THE THIRD DAY, according to the scriptures.  And that HE WAS SEEN BY CEPHAS, (PETER) and AFTER THAT BY THE ELEVEN.
Then he was seen by MORE THAN FIVE HUNDRED BRETHREN AT ONCE, of whom many remain until this present, and some are fallen asleep.  After that, HE WAS SEEN BY JAMES, THEN BY ALL THE APOSTLES.  And last of all, HE WAS SEEN ALSO BY ME, (St. Paul) as by one born out of due time.  For I am the least of the apostles, who am not worthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.  But by the GRACE OF GOD, I am what I am, and HIS GRACE IN ME HATH NOT BEEN VOID, but I have laboured more abundantly than all they, (the other Apostles) yet not I, BUT THE GRACE OF GOD WITH ME" (1 Corinthians 15:3-10).
Old Testament:
"Behold, O God our protector, and look on the face of THY CHRIST"  (Psalm 83:10).
"Tell ye, and come, and consult together: who hath declared this from the beginning, who hath foretold this from that time?  Have not I the Lord, and there is no God else besides meA just God and a SAVIOR, (JESUS) there is none besides me.  Be converted to me, and you shall be saved, all ye ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is NO OTHER.  I have sworn by myself, the word of justice shall go out of my mouth, and shall not return: For EVERY KNEE SHALL BE BOWED TO ME, and every tongue shall swear.  Therefore shall he say: In the Lord are my justices and empire, they shall come to him, and all that resist him shall be confounded"  (Isaiah 45:21-25).
New Testament:
"Then he commanded his disciples, that they should tell no one that he was JESUS, THE CHRIST"  (Matthew 16:20).
"But is now made manifest by the illumination of our SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST, who hath destroyed death, and hath brought to light, life and incorruption by the gospel" (2 Timothy 1:10).
"That in the name of JESUS EVERY KNEE SHOULD BOW, of those that are in heaven, on earth, and under the earth" (Hell) - Philippians 2:10.
"According to my expectation and hope; that in nothing I shall be CONFOUNDED, but with all confidence, as always, so now also shall Christ be magnified in my body, wither it be by life, or by death" (Philippians 1:20).
"Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own CONFUSION; wandering stars, to whom the storm of darkness is reserved forever.  Now of these Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied, saying: Behold, the Lord cometh with thousands of his saints,  To execute judgment upon all, and to reprove all the ungodly for all the works of their ungodliness, whereby they have done ungodly and of all the hard things which ungodly sinners have spoken against God"  (Epistle of St. Jude 13-15).
Old Testament:
"And I will pour out upon the house of David and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of prayers, and they shall LOOK UPON ME whom they have PIERCED, and they shall mourn for him as one mourneth for an only son, and they shall grieve over him, as the manner is to grieve for the death of the firstborn" (Zechariah 12:10).  Note: This passage refers to the conversion of the Jews at the end of the world.
New Testament:
"But after they were come to JESUS, when they saw that he was already dead, they did not break his legs.  But one of the soldiers with a spear opened his side, and immediately there came out blood and water.  And he that saw it, hath given testimony, and his testimony is true.  And he knoweth that he saith true; that you also may believe.  For these things were done, that the scripture might be fulfilled: You shall not break a bone of him.  And again another scripture saith: They shall LOOK ON HIM whom they PIERCED"  (John 19:33-37).
"Behold, he (Jesus) cometh with the clouds, and every eye shall see him, and they also that PIERCED him.  And all the tribes of the earth shall bewail themselves because of him"
(Apocalypse/Revelations 1:7).
Old Testament:
"The Lord thy God (God the Father) will raise up to thee a PROPHET (Christ) of thy nation and of thy brethren LIKE UNTO ME; him thou shalt hear... And the Lord said to me: They have spoken all things well. I will raise them up a prophet out of the midst of their brethren like to thee, and I WILL PUT MY WORDS IN HIS MOUTH, and he shall SPEAK TO THEM ALL THAT I SHALL COMMAND HIM" (Deuteronomy 18:15,18).
New Testament:
"And the people said: This is JESUS THE PROPHET, from NAZARETH OF GALILEE"  (Matthew 21:11).
"And whereas he (JESUS) had done so many MIRACLES before them, they BELIEVED NOT IN HIM.  That the saying of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he said: Lord, who hath believed our hearing?  And to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?  Therefore they could not believe, because Isaiah said again: He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart, that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and BE CONVERTED, AND I SHOULD HEAL THEM." (God withdrew His grace because of their grave sins and refusal to repent).
"These things said Isaiah, when he saw his glory, and spoke of him.  However, many of the chief men also believed in him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, (publicly acknowledge that belief)  that they might not be cast out of the synagogue.  For they loved the glory of men more than the glory of God.  But JESUS cried, and said: He (those) that believeth in me doth not believe in me, but in him that sent me.  And he that seeth me, seeth him that sent me."  (Christ taught what His, and our Father told Him - they are two Persons in One God).
"I am come a LIGHT into the world, that whosoever believeth in me may not remain in darkness.  And if any man hear my words and keep them not, I do not judge him, for I came not to judge the world, but to SAVE THE WORLD.  He that despiseth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him; the WORD that I have spoken, THE SAME (Christ's Words) SHALL JUDGE HIM ON THE LAST DAY.  For I have not spoken of myself; but the FATHER WHO SENT ME, he gave me (a) COMMANDMENT (to) what I should say, and what I should speak.  And I know that his commandment is life everlasting.  The things therefore that I speak, even as the Father said unto me, so do I speak"  (John 12:37-50).
"These things JESUS SPOKE and lifting up his eyes to HEAVEN, he said: Father, the hour is come, glorify thy Son, that thy Son may glorify thee.  As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he may give ETERNAL LIFE to all whom thou hast given himNow this is eternal life: That they may know thee, THE ONLY TRUE GOD and JESUS CHRIST, whom thou hast sent. I have glorified thee on the earth; I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.  And now glorify thou me, O Father, with thyself, with the glory which I had, before the world was, with thee.
I have MANIFESTED THY NAME to the men whom thou hast given me out of the world.  Thine they were, and to me thou gavest them; and they have kept thy word.  Now they have known, that all things which thou hast given me, are FROM THEE.  Because THE WORDS WHICH THOU GAVEST ME, I HAVE GIVEN TO THEM, and they have received them and have known in very deed that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me.  I PRAY FOR THEM, I pray not for the world, but for them whom thou hast given me; because they are thine.  And all my things are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them.
And now I am not in the world, and these are in the world and I come to thee.  Holy Father, keep them in thy name whom thou has given me; THAT THEY MAY BE ONE, AS WE ALSO ARE.  While I was with them, I kept them in thy name.  Those whom thou gavest me have I kept; and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition, (Judas) that the scripture may be fulfilled.  And now I come to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they may have my joy filled in themselvesI HAVE GIVEN THEM THY WORD and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world; as I also am not of the world.  I pray not that thou shouldst take them out of the world, but that thou shouldst keep them from evil.
They are not of the world, as I also am not of the world. SANCTIFY THEM IN TRUTH.  THY WORD IS TRUTH.  As thou hast sent me into the world, I also have sent them into the world.  And for them do I sanctify myself, that they also may be sanctified in truth.  And not for them only do I pray, but for them also who through their word shall believe in me.
That they all may be one, as thou, Father, in me, and I in thee; that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou has sent me.   And the glory which thou hast given me, I have given to them; that they may be one as we also are one. I in them, and thou in me; that they may be made perfect in one, and the world may know that thou hast sent me, and HAST LOVED THEM, AS THOU HAST ALSO LOVED ME.  Father, I will that where I am, they also whom thou hast given me may be with me; that they may see my glory which thou hast given me, because thou hast loved me before the creation of the worldJust Father, the world hath not known thee; but I have known thee: and these have known that thou hast sent me.
And I have made known thy name to them and will make it known that the LOVE wherewith thou hast loved me, may be in them and I in them"
(John 17:1-26).
"But those things which GOD before had showed by the mouth of all the PROPHETS, that his CHRIST should suffer, HE HATH SO FULFILLED" (Acts 18).
"But there are also many other things which Jesus did, which if they were written everyone, the world itself, I think, would not be able to contain the books that should be written" (John 21:25).
"I charge thee, before GOD AND JESUS CHRIST, who shall JUDGE the living and the dead by HIS (Second or Final) COMING and HIS KINGDOMPreach the word: be instant in season, out of seasonReprove, entreat, rebuke in all patience and doctrine.  For there shall be a time when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their OWN DESIRES, they will heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears: And will indeed turn away their hearing from THE TRUTH, but will be turned unto FABLES." (Twisting the truth to fit their own lifestyle and listening to & believing in things that are not true).
"But be thou vigilant, labour in all things, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill thy ministryBE SOBER" (2nd Epistle of St. Paul to Timothy 4:1-5). Note: Paul is speaking about taking the work you do for the Church seriously and avoid joking around.  Timothy was a bishop, but this Word & advice is useful & important for all of us, especially for priests during the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.
"If therefore they shall say to you: Behold he (JESUS) is in the desert, go ye not out: Behold he is in the closets, (caves, buildings, hiding places) believe it not.  For as lightning cometh out of the east, and appeareth even into the west: so shall the coming of the Son of man be. Wheresoever the body (Christ) shall be, there shall the eagles (angels and saints) also be gathered together.  And immediately after the tribulation of those days, the sun shall be darkened and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of heaven shall be moved
And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven, and then shall all tribes of the earth MOURN, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with much power and majesty.  And he shall send his angels with a trumpetand a great voice: and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the farthest parts of the heavens to the utmost bounds of them" (Matthew 24:26-31).
"But of that day and hour no one knoweth, not the angels of heaven, but the Father alone.  And as in the days of Noah, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.  For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, even till that day in which Noah entered into the ark.  And they knew not till the flood came and took them all away, so also shall the coming of the Son of man be" (Matthew 24:36-39).
"I JESUS have sent my angel (the Apostle John) to testify to you these things in the CHURCHES.  I am the root and stock of David, the bright and morning star.  And the spirit and the bride say: COME.  And he that heareth, let him say: COME.  And he that thirsteth, let him COME, and he that will, let him take the water of life, freely.
For I testify to every one that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book (The Revelation of Jesus Christ).  If any man shall add to these things, God shall add unto him the plagues written in this book.  And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city and from these things that are written in this book.  He that giveth testimony of these things, saith, surely I come quickly, Amen. COME, LORD JESUS!"  (Apocalypse/Revelations 22:16-20).
"Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I (Jesus) am afflicted, my eye is troubled with wrath, (and is) my soul and my belly.  For my life is wasted with GRIEF, and my years in SIGHS.  My strength is weakened through poverty and my bones are disturbed.  I am become a reproach among all my enemies and very much to my neighbors, and a fear to my acquaintance.  They that saw me without fled from me.  I am forgotten as one dead from the heart (The sufferings of Jesus are felt in every part of His Body).
I am become as a vessel that is destroyed.  For I have heard the blame of many that dwell round about.  While they assembled together against me, they consulted to take away my life.  But I have put my trust in thee, O Lord: I (Jesus) said: Thou art my God.  My lots are in thy hands. Deliver me out of the hands of my enemies, and from them that persecute me.  Make thy face to shine upon thy servant; save me in thy mercy"  (Psalm 30:10-17).
"And SIGHING DEEPLY IN SPIRIT, he (Jesus) saith: Why doth this generation seek a SIGN?  Amen, I say to you, a sign shall not be given to this generation" (Mark 8:12).

"And he (Jesus) healed many that were troubled with divers (various)diseases and he cast out many devils, and he suffered them not to speak because they knew him (the devils knew He was Christ). And rising very early, going out, he went into a DESERT PLACE and there he PRAYED"
(Mark 1:34-35).
"And it came to pass about eight days after these words, that he took Peter, and James, and John, and went up into a mountain to PRAY.  And whilst he PRAYED, the shape of his countenance was altered and his raiment became white and glittering" (Luke 9:28-29).
"And the Lord (JESUS) said: Simon, Simon, behold Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat.  But I have PRAYED FOR THEE, that thy faith fail not, and thou, being once converted, confirm thy brethren" (Luke 22:31-32).
"When Mary therefore was come where JESUS was, seeing him, she fell down at his feet and saith to him: Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died. Jesus, therefore, when he saw her WEEPING, and the Jews that were come with her weeping, groaned in the spirit and troubled himself and said: Where have you laid him?   They say to him: Lord, come and see. And JESUS WEPT.  The Jews therefore said: Behold how he loved him"
(John 11:32-36).
"And when he (Jesus) drew near, seeing the city, (Jerusalem) he WEPT over it, saying: If thou also hadst known, and that in this thy day the things that are to thy peace; but now they are hidden from thy eyes" (Luke 19:41-42).
"Then Jesus came with them into a country place which is called GETHSEMANE, and he said to his disciples: Sit you here TILL I GO YONDER AND PRAY.  And taking with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, he began to GROW SORROWFUL AND TO BE SAD.  Then he saith to them: MY SOUL IS SORROWFUL EVEN UNTO DEATH, stay you here and watch with me.  And going a little further HE FELL UPON HIS FACE PRAYING, and saying: My Father, if it be possible, let this chalice pass from me.  Nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.  And he cometh to his disciples and findeth them asleep, and he saith to Peter: What?  Could you not watch one hour with me?
Watch ye, and pray that ye enter not into temptation.  The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh weak.  Again the SECOND time he went and PRAYED, saying: My Father, if this chalice may not pass away, but I must drink it, thy will be done.  And he cometh again and findeth them sleeping, for their eyes were heavy.  And leaving them, he went again: and he PRAYED FOR THE THIRD TIME, saying the self same word.  Then he cometh to his disciples and saith to them: Sleep ye now and take your rest; behold the hour is at hand, and the Son of man shall be BETRAYED INTO THE HANDS OF SINNERS"  (Matthew 26:36-45).
"And at the ninth hour, JESUS CRIED OUT WITH A LOUD VOICE, saying: Eloi, Eloi, lamma sabacthani?  Which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?" (Mark 15:34).
"Blessed are THE POOR IN SPIRIT, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.  Blessed are THE MEEK, for they shall possess the land.  Blessed are they THAT MOURN,  for they shall be comforted"
(Matthew 5:3-5).
"For when they shall RISE AGAIN FROM THE DEAD, they shall neither marry, nor be married, but are as the ANGELS IN HEAVEN"  (Mark 12:25).
"For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne, shall rule them, and shall lead them to the fountains of the waters of life, and God shall wipe away all TEARS from their eyes
(Apocalypse/Revelations 7:17).
"And God shall wipe away all TEARS from their eyes and DEATH shall be no more, nor MOURNING, nor CRYING, nor SORROW shall be any more, for the former things are passed away"  (Apocalypse/Revelations 21:4).
"These shall fight with the LAMB and the Lamb shall overcome them, because he is LORD OF LORDS and KING OF KINGS, and they that are with him are called ELECT, and FAITHFUL"  (Apocalypse/Revelations 17:14).
Thank you for taking the time to examine this evidence of the existence and Person of Jesus Christ.  I hope it will benefit your soul and the souls of many others.  May the Peace of our Savior be with you and your family.
